Jose Gabriel Fernandez

Jose Gabriel Fernandez was born in Caracas, Venezuela and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His first solo show in New York, “A Brief Illustrated Guide to Bullfighting” was held at Lombard Fried in 1998. Since then, Jose Gabriel has exhibited works through North and South America and Europe, including shows such as “Ecos y Contrastes- Arte Contemporáneo en la Colección Cisneros”, Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo, San José (2005), “Jump Cuts - Venezuelan Contemporary Art, Colección Mercantil”, The Americas Society Art Gallery, New York, NY (2005), “The Furniture of Poul Kjaerholm and Selected Art”, Sean Kelly Gallery, New York, NY (2004), and “Forward”, Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, DC (1999). His work includes a variety of multi-media installations, video, and sculpture and is profoundly influenced by his formative experience in Latin America.
