Brazilian Installation Artist Ernesto Neto was born in 1964 in Rio de Janeiro, where he still currently lives and works. His work, which has often been described as rooted in the tradition of “Brazil's Neo-Concrete body-centered art movement of the 1950s and 1960s”, frequently involve massive fabric installations that require the viewer to pass through the installation itself, thus creating an intimate connection between the work and the viewer. Between 1994-1998 Neto attended the 1994, 1997 Escola de Artes Visuais Pargua Lage, Rio de Janeiro. His work has been frequently exhibited as solo shows throughout the world at many prestigious art galleries and museums, including recent shows such “Ernesto Neto-The Malmö Experience”, Malmö Konsthall, Sweden (2006), Galerie Bob van Orsouw, Zurich (2006), Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo (2006), Galeria Fortes Vilaça, São Paulo, Brazil (2005), Galerie Yvon Lambert, Paris, France (2005).
